Hi, I’m Sara Tuiloma.
As an instructional designer and lifelong learner, I hold a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Instructional Psychology and Technology from Brigham Young University, along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities and Spanish Studies. My passion lies in helping students succeed in their learning, and I strongly believe in returning education to its classical roots. While I’m deeply grateful for my educational journey, I’ve seen a decline in the quality and focus of education across the board, from K-12 to the university level.
From a young age, I’ve always wanted to play a role in improving education, and I believe that God has guided me in every step of that mission. My faith in Jesus Christ and my love for freedom are central to all that I do, and I strive to reflect these values in my work. I’m a Midwest girl at heart, married to a wonderful man from Samoa, who has opened my eyes to new ways of thinking about learning. Together, we share a love for health and fitness, enjoy spending time with our dog and our son, and cherish time with our families while encouraging each other to pursue our goals.
Join me on this journey as we explore tools to help today’s learners gain practical skills, develop a strong understanding of our nation’s history, and cultivate critical thinking for a better future. Now is the time to make our homes and families the center of education, focusing on classical moral values and principles, while viewing schools as supplemental resources rather than the backbone of our children’s learning. My 5 Pillars of Education
Education that is family focused.
The family is the central unit of society. As such, education should celebrate and encourage family involvement in learning. Research has also shown that students tend to learn better when they have family support.
Education that is rooted in values in principles.
By instilling strong moral values in our young people, we give them the tools they need to develop a strong character rooted in faith and freedom and build successful futures for themselves and their families.
Education that is content-rich.
Young learners can discover themselves and their world through a well-rounded education centered on liberal arts and the sciences. This can be accomplished by studying classic literature, mathematics, science, history, language, and fine arts. Developing this solid foundation is crucial before advancing into more specialized training.
Education that is guided by personal mentors.
Personal mentors can serve as role models for learners, providing guidance and support that often goes beyond what a teacher can offer. With the guidance of a committed mentor, students can more easily discover their passions and unlock doors of opportunity to be successful in their future careers.
Education that is supplemented with school.
Rather than being the backbone of education, schools can serve as an additional supportive community to the learning already happening in everyday life in homes and with families.
